This is an emotionally charged story of a young woman trying to find herself. Reviewed by Jeannie for HeadTripping Books Jovie could be indecisive and immature at times as well, however she is 19, Jack is older. Jack has his sweet moments, but not enough for this reader. Some readers may appreciate a bit of angst and uncertainty-this is you book! Wanting to be with Jovie, not wanting to be. My take on Jack is that he goes back and forth a lot. I could have used a little more action and a little less talk and angst. That's my issue with some of the direction the book takes and how it unfolds. He does all that he can to keep distance between them. If anything, Jack feels deeply threatened by his feelings for Jovie. Jack and Jovie don't fall instantly in love, for sure lust. The author alludes to his back story, but you don't really know until later in the story. Largely due to the death of her sister and her parents inability to deal. Jovie has moved with her best friend back to her hometown. I absolutely loved the characters Jack and Jovie they were both made stronger through their inner battles and I was hoping so much for their HEA.Ĭongratulations Emery Jacobs on a brilliant debut novel!! I loved every minute of this book the switching from past to present was written fluidly and was easy to follow. Is fate going to be kind to them? Jack and Jovie are both battling with their pasts but can they finally find peace and comfort in each other? Suffering from a panic attack at a party Jovie escapes to the bathroom to try to get her breathing under control and comes face to face with the gorgeous and tattooed Jack. These rules have never changed over the past eight years until he meets Jovie.Īfter losing her sister in a car accident years previous and having to put up with over protective parents Jovie finally escapes their watchful eyes, she takes herself back to Houston, the childhood home she knew up until the time her sister was killed, to attend the university there with her best friend Layla. he never stays the night with a girl, he has no strings attached sex and the minute the girls he sleeps with want more he ups and leaves out of their lives. Haunted by his past Jack now lives his life by a set of rules. When I was asked if I wanted an ARC of this book I was eager and excited to receive it. Every time a new teaser came out it was almost torture, I wanted to read this book so much. Twisted fate has been on my TBR list since I saw the first teaser for this book over six months ago. Thank you Emery, for letting me experience your first baby. There are many heartbreaking moments, but I loved how Emery's writing makes sure every piece fits this unique love story. Lots of drama, lots of emotions, and lots of forgiveness. What she hasn't prepared herself for is when she meets Jack, they both have a connection they can't quite put there finger on, especially Jack he can't seem to forget how familiar her eyes look.Īs the story progresses things start to make sense and you understand the whys. Jovie has grown up with strict parents always breathing down her neck all she wants to do is move on with her life, start college, and start living. This book goes from past to present you meet sexy Jack, man whore who's holding onto secrets of his past that he can't seem to move from, so instead of doing the right thing he has meaningless relationships with women he doesn't care about. This is Emery Jacob's first book and at one point I had to message her just to make sure because I was so invested and normally that doesn't happen to me with new authors.

The characters reactions are far more poignant than the readers. The twist isn't hard to predict and that is ok. When everything comes to light, who will be there to pick up the pieces? Secrets left in the dark don't go away though. The most troubling thing about those eyes is the beautiful girl attached to them.īoth Jack and Jovie have issues. He's seen those eyes for years in his dreams and thoughts. Jack can't get those eyes out of his mind. She can't even breathe when he does it, much less answer questions. He asks too many questions while staring into her eyes. She wants to live life with room to breathe and freedom to do anything she wants.Įverything for Jovie is about to change- all because of the gorgeous guy with the need to stare into her eyes. So desperate she's going to college 12 hours away. Jovie is desperate to get out from under her overprotective parents.
